Is Big Brothers Big Sisters?

| How
would a Big Brother or Big Sister benefit my child?
Children
derive many benefits from having a positive role model and mentor
in their lives. The time and attention given to a child by
a Big Brother or Big Sister sends a powerful message: "You are a
worthwhile person." In addition, children who have a Big Brother
or Big Sister:
-
improve school performance
- improve
relationships with both adults and peers
- are
less likely to drop out of school or skip school
- are
less likely to behave violently
- are
less likely to become pregnant or father a child
- gain
respect for the community in which they live
